MEDICAL FACILITIES

For the officers and staff members of BITM and its units and their dependent family members

For the convenience of the Officers and Staff Members of BITM and the units under its direct administrative control, basic medical facilities that are available for them and their dependent family members are explained in brief.

Following medical facilities are available to the employees and their dependent family members:-

Reimbursement of expenditure on OPD treatment for minor health problems:

1. Up-to Rs.15,000/- p.a. can be reimbursed on production of following documents:
    a. Copy of the prescription of the recognized medical practitioners;
    b. Original cash memos for the medicines and pathological tests; 
    c. Money receipt from the doctor for his/her consultation fees.

Reimbursement of expenditure on Prolonged Outdoor Medical treatment :
Employees or their dependent family members suffering from Cancer, Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Poliomyelitis, Diabetes, Mental disease and such other ailments requiring prolonged outdoor treatment may chose:

(a) either to submit necessary forms and vouchers for reimbursement of the actual cost of the outdoor treatment received from Govt./CGHS recognized or NCSM recognized hospital
 
OR

(b) prefer to claim the fixed medical allowances during a financial year.

Facilities for indoor medical treatment:
For reimbursement one is required to be admitted in any of the following categories of the hospitals.

Hospitals recognized by NCSM:-

  • Mission of Mercy Hospital & Research Centre, Kolkata         
  • Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre, Salt Lake, Kolkata
  • Peerless Hospitex Hospital and Research Center Ltd., Kolkata
  • B M Birla Heart Research Center, Kolkata
  • B.P.Poddar Hospital &Medical Research Ltd., New Alipore, Kolkata
  • Desun Hospital, Kasba Golpark, Kolkata
  • Renaiissance Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Teghoria, Baguihati, Kolkata
  • AMRI Hospital Ltd. for all its multilocation units at Dhakuria, Mukundapur, Saltlake(for all kind of treatment) and Medical Centre-Southern Avenue(only for Eye Surgery)
  • Shri Aurobindo Seva Kendra (EEDF), Kolkata (Treated at hospital rate, not at CGHS rate)

Most of the NCSM recognized hospitals extend CGHS rate facilities for pathological and radiological tests for the OPD medical treatment to the employees and their dependent family members as well as to the pensioners/family pensioners on production of identity card. Doctor fees shall be at hospital rate. However the payment towards OPD treatment and pathological tests shall be borne by the concerned employees and no credit facilities are extended for OPD treatment.

On emergency employees and their dependent family members can take admission in a hospital for indoor treatment on production of identity card, subject to submission of referral letter from BITM within the next working day.

Expenses for the indoor treatment

Reimbursement of charges for indoor treatment shall be restricted to the rates prescribed under CGHS/CS(MA) rules or at actuals, whichever is less. It is clarified that for treatment in CGHS recognized hospital there are city specific prescribed rates which are also applicable to CS(MA) beneficiaries for undergoing inpatient medical treatment in those hospitals, and in case rates for a particular city/place in not available, the rates prescribed for the nearest city may be considered for reimbursement.

The hospitals where General Ward does not exist, treatment may be availed in a higher class of accommodation. However, reimbursement of accommodation charges in all such cases, irrespective of whether the treatment was availed of in a CGHS/CS(MA)/NCSM recognized hospital, is to be restricted to the ceiling prescribed for General Ward under the CGHS Rules, as approved under the CS(MA) Rules, 1944.                                                                                                            (Ref.
